Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Executive Chef to lead our food program at Sodexo Canada Ltd. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for directing food program activities, managing daily operations, and ensuring the highest quality of food service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Food Program Direction: Coordinate and direct food program activities to ensure successful execution of menus, purchasing, inventory management, and cost control.
  • Daily Operations: Direct daily food production, including menu planning, purchasing, inventory management, food preparation, and cost management.
  • Financial Management: Manage financials for the food program, including labor costs, food costs, inventory, equipment, and materials.
  • Culinary Team Training: Train and develop culinary team members as technical experts.
  • Quality Improvement: Establish operating standards and implement quality improvements to ensure exceptional customer experiences.
  • Vendor Relationships: Establish and maintain business relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Marketing and Promotion: Promote and assist in the marketing of the food program to internal and external audiences.
  • Analysis and Improvement: Continuously analyze the campus-wide food program, identifying efficiencies and areas of opportunity for improvement.
  • Collaboration and Compliance: Meet and collaborate with university initiatives to progress agreed-upon efforts and ensure compliance with all Company standards, Provincial/Federal Legislation, Food Safety, Food System Management, and HACCP Policies and Procedures.
Requirements
  • Red Seal Certification: Possess Red Seal Certification as a Chef.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in a Chef role.
  • Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of industry standards and Legislative Policies and Procedures.
  • Unionized Environment: Experience working in a unionized environment is an asset.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with customers, clients, and staff at all levels.
  • Problem-Solving and Adaptability: Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, team-centric, and safety-driven environment, with proven organizational skills and strong computer capabilities, including Microsoft Office use.
  • Sustainability and Plant-Based Menu Preparation: Experience in sustainable and plant-based menu preparation is an asset.
  • Customer Service: Genuine desire to provide customer service experiences beyond expectations.
