Lead Civil Engineer for Hydrotechnical Projects

The Power and Transportation Group is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer with over 12 years of expertise in the design and assessment of large dams and associated structures. A comprehensive understanding of related engineering disciplines, particularly in dam safety evaluations, is essential. Experience in site assignments for hydroelectric projects, both domestically and internationally, is a valuable asset.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of engineers, designers, and drafters throughout the stages of conceptual, preliminary, and final design.
  • Serve as a technical resource within project teams.
  • Provide regular progress updates to clients and senior management.
  • Conduct site visits to gather necessary information to support design activities.
  • Engage with clients professionally and collaboratively.
  • Adhere to established quality management systems and propose improvements as needed.
  • Travel for project-related activities within Canada and internationally.

To qualify, candidates should be registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in BC, possess a Bachelor's degree in hydrotechnical or civil engineering, and have extensive experience in the field.

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong technical expertise and detailed design skills in civil engineering.
  • Experience with large conventional hydro and pump storage projects (over 50−100 MW).
  • Ability to collaborate across disciplines and comprehend electrical, civil-structural, and mechanical design aspects.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Demonstrated project management and client relationship management experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, including proficient report writing.
  • Extensive site experience.
  • Experience in conducting dam safety reviews and inspections.
  • Business development experience, including proposal writing and leadership.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Capability to manage projects exceeding $1 million.
  • Willingness to work from the Vancouver or Toronto office with flexible remote work options.

The compensation for this role ranges from $120,000 to $165,000 annually, based on relevant experience, education, and skill level.
