Job Summary

Hydro Ottawa is seeking a highly skilled Payroll and Pension Advisor to join our team. As a key member of our compensation and benefits team, you will be responsible for supporting all aspects of payroll, compensation, and pension plan administration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support payroll processing, including verification and accuracy of payroll processing in accordance with statutory and contractual requirements.
  • Analyze and apply relevant legislation and contractual agreements, including the Income Tax Act, Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) rules and regulations, and Employment Standards Act.
  • Complete tax and remittance filings and reconciliation, ensuring strict adherence to remittance deadlines.
  • Prepare and verify statements of earnings for employees.
  • Maintain and ensure integrity of data in Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
  • Develop and implement payroll practices and procedures to facilitate high-quality services and continuous improvement.
  • Act as a resource and provide advice and support on payroll and compensation programs.
  • Support the Supervisor, Compensation with the year-end reconciliation process for payroll.
  • Prepare monthly metrics reports and assist in preparing information for various audits as required.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in human resources, commerce, business administration, or other related program.
  • Experience in payroll and pension administration.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in office productivity and collaboration tools, preferably G Suite and a HRIS.
  • Completion of National Payroll Institute certification program courses considered an asset.
  • Experience with and knowledge of financial accounting practices and tax procedures considered an asset.
  • English essential, both oral and written; Bilingual (English/French) considered an asset.
