Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Control Systems Engineer to contribute to the advancement of Downstream Technology and Services. This role involves programming and maintaining control systems that are vital for our Research Units and smaller Bench Scale Units, which play a crucial role in catalyst research and development, as well as initiatives aimed at reducing carbon emissions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, program, and maintain process control systems (PCS), programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human-machine interfaces (HMIs), and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems.
  • Provide support to clients and contribute significantly to complex projects under occasional supervision.
  • Implement programming modifications and enhancements to existing PLCs.
  • Develop PLC programs and logic for new Research Unit constructions.
  • Create Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) for both new and existing Research Units.
  • Offer programming support for the existing Yokogawa distributed control system (DCS).
  • Assist in maintaining the Process Control Network (PCN) infrastructure, ensuring network security and backup systems are in place.
  • Collaborate with Instrumentation Technicians to troubleshoot field issues.
  • Tune control loops and assist in training console operators.
  • Engage in regular communication with various workgroups, including Operations, Maintenance, and Project Services.
  • Report to the DT&S IT/Controls Team Leader and work closely with the Research community, necessitating strong communication skills and a commitment to sound documentation practices.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Control Systems Engineer or in a similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of Process Control Systems and SCADA.
  • Proficiency in PLCs and DCS.
