Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Control Systems Engineer to contribute to the advancement of Downstream Technology and Services. This role is integral to a dedicated team responsible for programming and maintaining the control systems essential for our Research Units and smaller Bench Scale Units, which play a crucial role in catalyst research and development, lower carbon initiatives, and process technology innovations, including Carbon Capture.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be tasked with the following:

  • Design, program, and maintain process control systems (PCS), PLCs, HMIs, and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems.
  • Provide support to clients/customers and contribute significantly to complex projects under periodic supervision.
  • Implement programming modifications and enhancements to existing PLCs.
  • Develop PLC programs and logic for new Research Unit constructions.
  • Create Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) for both new and existing Research Units.
  • Offer programming support for the existing Yokogawa distributed control system (DCS).
  • Assist in maintaining the Process Control Network (PCN) infrastructure, ensuring network security and backup systems.
  • Collaborate with Instrumentation Technicians to troubleshoot field issues.
  • Tune control loops and assist in training console operators.
  • Engage in regular communication with various workgroups, including Operations, Maintenance, and Project Services.
  • Report directly to the DT&S IT/Controls Team Leader.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Control Systems Engineer or in a similar role. Proficient in Process Control Systems and SCADA. Expertise in PLCs and DCS.

Additional Information:

This position requires excellent communication skills and a commitment to sound documentation practices, as well as a foundational understanding of Information Risk Management (IRM) guidelines.
