Role Summary

The On-Site Administrator plays a crucial role within the hospital's administrative framework, providing essential support for clinical staff during non-standard hours. This position is ideal for individuals eager to embrace leadership responsibilities and gain insights into the comprehensive operations and clinical programs of the hospital. The On-Site Administrator holds significant authority and is expected to exercise sound judgment in decision-making to further the hospital's objectives while fostering an environment aligned with its Mission, Vision, and Values.

Key Responsibilities

Core duties include:

  1. Overseeing patient flow and managing hospital capacity effectively.
  2. Collaborating with various departments to enhance operational efficiency, focusing on the assignment and direction of clinical and non-clinical personnel as needed.
  3. Ensuring the delivery of care is grounded in theoretical knowledge and evidence-based practices.
  4. Facilitating effective communication and serving as a consultant to healthcare professionals and community members.
  5. Promoting professional development for oneself and supporting the growth of staff members.
  6. Ensuring compliance with quality improvement initiatives and other related programs.
  7. Responding to emergency situations and acting as the site commander during critical incidents.
  8. Carrying out cross-functional tasks and other responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
  • Proven ability to make informed operational decisions while considering existing protocols.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and fostering positive change.
  • Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.), Level II: Basic Rescuer.
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Up to five years of relevant experience, including three years in an acute care environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Preferred experience includes two years of progressive administrative roles in nursing.
  • Critical care experience is an asset.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to a dynamic work environment.
  • Experience in a unionized setting is preferred.
  • Membership in a relevant professional organization is advantageous.
