Position Overview

This role is situated within the central office of the Government of Northwest Territories and reports directly to the LAN Administrator/Technical.

The selected candidate will be responsible for the upkeep and management of computer systems and equipment across various educational institutions under the Government of Northwest Territories, in addition to the central office.

The technician will collaborate with educators, administrative staff, and central office personnel to ensure seamless operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the procurement of new hardware and software, ensuring all documentation and financial reports are accurately submitted.
  • Engage daily with staff from the Government of Northwest Territories and other agencies to provide support for various PC-based hardware and software applications.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of the telecommunications resources utilized within the organization, as this is crucial for effective communication.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A bachelor's degree in a Computer or Information Systems related field as a minimum educational requirement.
  • Demonstrated experience in application support and systems analysis, with a minimum of two years in a relevant role.
  • Experience with wireless network access and protocols is considered an asset.
  • Prior experience in educational settings is advantageous.

Skills and Attributes

The incumbent must be capable of working independently with minimal oversight and possess the ability to assist users of varying skill levels, from novice to expert.

Additionally, the candidate should be adept at conceptualizing, planning, and executing change initiatives within the organization, as well as effectively listening and responding to the needs of others.

Additional Requirements

  • A valid driver's license is mandatory, with the ability to travel by car and small aircraft.
  • Successful candidates will be required to undergo a satisfactory vulnerable sector check.
