Your Role: Health & Safety Coordinator

As a Health & Safety Coordinator, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and compliance of our workplace. You will collaborate closely with the Safety Manager and other teams to develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs and policies.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement and uphold various safety-related policies, training programs, procedures, and guidelines in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Coordinate safety orientations, manage certificates, and procure personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Collaborate with Safety Advisors and the Director to plan and execute safety training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, accidents, and near misses. Prepare reports and facilitate root cause analysis for management and regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Ensure that all safety equipment is properly maintained and accessible, and that employees are trained on its use.
  • Manage and update safety documentation, including safety data sheets (SDS) and safety manuals.
  • Monitor and report on safety compliance and performance metrics. Provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Assist in emergency response planning and participate in safety drills and exercises.
  • Stay current with industry best practices, regulations, and standards related to workplace safety.
  • Act as a point of contact for employees to report safety concerns and provide guidance on safety-related inquiries.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in workplace health and safety is an asset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively train and engage employees.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in safety recordkeeping and reporting.
  • Proficiency in using safety management software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to assess and mitigate safety risks.
