Alberta Health Services is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety and Compliance Specialist to join our Calgary Zone Facilities Maintenance & Engineering team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in contributing to the safety culture of our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain compliance-related initiatives relative to government legislation, industry-recognized standards, and organizational policy.
  • Lead the development of workplace health and safety programs, including infection prevention and control, critical maintenance compliance, and risk management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish relationships and create coalitions to drive safety and compliance initiatives.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on regulations, codes, standards, policies, and practices related to workplace health and safety.
  • Develop and implement business skills, including business writing, gap analysis, process mapping, metrics, and reporting.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary degree or trade certification.
  • Safety designation (NCSO, CRSP, CRST, CSO) or a commitment to obtain one.
  • Five years of safety experience.
  • Valid 5th class Alberta driver's license.
  • Proficient in English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Leadership skills, including communication, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making.
  • Health care facility operations and maintenance experience.
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Training, teaching, and speaking to groups of people.
