Your proficiency will be vital in evaluating and comprehending pertinent standards and unique provisions, interpreting contract documentation, and collaborating with contractors and clients to guarantee seamless project execution.
A significant component of this role is the inspection of construction activities to confirm adherence to contract specifications, quality criteria, and safety protocols. Responsibilities include validating quantities, compiling progress reports, and maintaining comprehensive documentation to monitor project milestones and uphold transparency in management processes.
The selected candidate will be engaged in the active management of construction projects. This position allows for a hybrid work arrangement, requiring an in-office presence of up to three (3) days per week, with the flexibility to work remotely on the remaining days.
As a key figure in our Contract Administration Division, you will oversee the daily execution of your assigned projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervising the activities of Construction Inspectors;
- Reviewing and interpreting relevant OPSS and contract-specific provisions;
- Deciphering requirements and details of contract drawings and specifications;
- Conducting periodic inspections of construction operations to ensure compliance with contract documents, quality, and safety standards;
- Validating quantities, preparing progress documentation, and maintaining accurate records;
- Analyzing and interpreting the contractor's critical path schedules;
- Reconciling progress payments promptly and ensuring compliance with payment regulations;
- Identifying potential issues, recommending mitigation strategies, assessing incidents early, and adapting as necessary;
- Promoting adherence to health and safety regulations;
- Preparing reports, quantity assessments, claims, and payment certifications;
- Engaging with contractors and clients;
- Performing additional duties as required.
- Bilingual proficiency in French and English is essential;
- University degree or College diploma in Civil Engineering;
- Proven experience as a Contract Administrator, Resident Engineer, Quantity Surveyor, or in a supporting role;
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications effectively;
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook); familiarity with AutoCAD and Civil 3D is advantageous;
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and attention to detail skills;
- Demonstrated eagerness to learn;
- Capability to work independently and collaboratively;
- Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle with appropriate registration and insurance;
- Flexibility to work varied schedules and travel to project sites as needed;
- Preferred registration as an ing. with OIQ and in good standing;
- Demonstrated experience in similar roles on at least two (2) previous projects;
- Over five years of experience in Rail, Transit, and/or road construction projects.
