Job Summary

This role as Shift Leader reports to the Assistant Manager at Dominion Bar + Kitchen. The Shift Leader is responsible and accountable for the Front of House operations, including training, supervision, and opening/closing of the restaurant.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Ensure that exceptional levels of service are being delivered to guests during service.
  2. Verify that all equipment used is in safe working order, checked regularly, and any faults are reported to management, while ensuring equipment is not used until safe.
  3. Action guest concerns and compliments by praising staff and resolve complaints in a timely manner.
  4. Comply with all Dominion's policies and procedures, as well as rules and regulations.
  5. Shift management in support of the management team.
  6. Provide running food and perform table-side service during busy periods to support the serving team.
  7. Assist the General Manager or Assistant Manager with all aspects of restaurant operations.
  8. Ensure adherence to food safety regulations, hygiene, and cleanliness as per Provincial and local standards.
  9. Follow Provincial Liquor laws.
  10. Ensure that Front of House labor cost is on the line to the budget.
  11. Ensure that fire plan knowledge and WHMIS training is kept up to date.
  12. Comply with WCB rules and regulations and maintain awareness of any/all other relevant laws and statutes.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned and directed by General Manager & Assistant Manager.

Requirements

- High school diploma, SIR, and minimum 2 years supervisory experience in Restaurant and Bar operations.

Required Skills and Abilities

- Superior communication skills, including the ability to retain, coach, mentor, and develop staff.

- Ability to work with others in a fast-paced customer service-oriented environment.

- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multi-task and coordinate multiple functions and activities. Ability to effectively use business software, including Microsoft office suite, Google apps, Restaurant sales pro, or familiar with FOH operation software systems.

- Possesses knowledge and understanding of employment standards, specifically in areas of scheduling and ambassador discipline.

- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

- Must be able to work evenings and weekends as business dictates.
