Job Title: Construction Estimator/Project Coordinator

The Role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Construction Estimator/Project Coordinator to join our dynamic team. As a Construction Estimator/Project Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our projects are well-planned, financially feasible, and competitive in the market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Evaluation: Conduct thorough reviews of project plans, requirements, and specifications to determine the scope of work and required contents of estimates.
  • Cost Estimation and Quantity Take-off: Prepare accurate and detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors, and other expenses based on project plans and specifications.
  • Vendor/Subcontractor Relations: Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors and vendors to ensure competitive pricing and timely delivery of materials and services.
  • Budget Management: Assist in developing project budgets and provide input on cost management strategies throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Bid Preparation: Prepare bid documents and submission packages, ensuring compliance with client requirements and deadlines.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify and quantify cost factors, such as materials, labor, equipment, and time requirements, and assess their impact on project costs.
  • Value Engineering: Collaborate with engineers, architects, and construction personnel to recommend alternatives or value engineering solutions to enhance project profitability without sacrificing quality or performance.
  • Documentation: Maintain organized records of estimates, contracts, and other relevant documentation.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to construction estimating and cost management.
  • Coordination: Coordinate project plans and schedules to ensure they align with the overall project goals.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience in estimating, preferably in a construction management or general contracting environment.
  • Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience in construction management coordination.
  • Experience in residential multifamily and concrete high-rise towers.
  • Familiarity with municipal application processes is an asset.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 and Bluebeam Takeoff software.
  • Certification (e.g., Certified Construction Estimator, Gold Seal) is an asset.
  • Technologist or a Bachelors Degree in construction management is considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and confidentiality concerning employee/contractor files.
  • An ideal candidate will be comfortable working efficiently in fast-paced environments, remain calm under pressure, and will be able to make quick, well-informed decisions as required.
