The Role: Construction Estimator & Project Coordinator

We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented individual to join our dynamic team as a Construction Estimator & Project Coordinator. Your primary responsibility will be analyzing construction blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for diverse construction projects. This role is crucial in ensuring that our projects are meticulously planned, financially viable, and competitive within the market.

Responsibilities:

  • Project Evaluation: Thoroughly review and analyze project plans, requirements, and specifications to determine the scope of work and essential elements for estimates.
  • Cost Estimation & Quantity Take-Off: Prepare precise and detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors, and other expenses based on project plans and specifications.
  • Vendor/Subcontractor Relations: Cultivate and maintain relationships with subcontractors and vendors to secure competitive pricing and timely delivery of materials and services.
  • Budget Management: Assist in developing project budgets and contribute to cost management strategies throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Bid Preparation: Prepare bid documents and submission packages, ensuring compliance with client requirements and deadlines.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify and quantify cost factors, such as materials, labor, equipment, and time requirements, and assess their impact on project costs.
  • Value Engineering: Collaborate with engineers, architects, and construction personnel to recommend alternative solutions or value engineering options that enhance project profitability without compromising quality or performance.
  • Documentation: Maintain organized records of estimates, contracts, and other relevant documentation.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to construction estimating and cost management.
  • Coordination: Coordinate project plans and schedules to ensure they align with the overall project objectives.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience in estimating, preferably within a construction management or general contracting environment.
  • Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience in construction management coordination.
  • Experience in residential multifamily and concrete high-rise towers.
  • Familiarity with municipal application processes is an asset.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
