School Social Worker/SEL Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Social Emotional Learning Specialist to join our team at School District #60 (Peace River North). As a key member of our school community, you will play a vital role in supporting the social, emotional, and academic well-being of our students.
Key Responsibilities- Provide individual and group counseling services to students, focusing on connecting them with community resources and services as needed.
- Assist at-risk students or students with disabilities, working closely with teachers, administrators, and parents to understand their challenges.
- Maintain accurate case files and reports to track students' progress and problems.
- Help students and families access resources such as shelters, food banks, and medical care.
- Consult with school administrators, teachers, and support staff to develop and implement strategies to support student success.
- Plan and facilitate in-service training sessions for teachers, youth care workers, and parents on topics such as social skills, self-esteem, and crisis prevention.
- Participate as an active member of the School-Based Team (SBT) and District support teams.
- A master's or bachelor's degree in social work, youth care, psychology, or a related field.
- Valid license to practice social work in BC (preferred).
- Experience working in a setting where services related to social, emotional, and life adjustment were provided.
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and parents.
- Valid BC driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Experience in providing liaison services between school, home, and community agencies.
- Knowledge and skills to develop and support district protocols such as safety plans, crisis prevention and intervention plans, and emergency plans.
- Experience and knowledge of processes such as Wraparound, Restorative Justice, Circle Talks, and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) supports.
- Skills to develop and implement individual/group programs in areas such as social skills, self-esteem, anger management, bullying, anxiety, and peer pressure.
