Job Title: School Social Worker/SEL Specialist

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a School Social Worker/SEL Specialist. This role will play a vital part in addressing the emotional and social well-being of our students.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will provide indirect and direct services to students and/or the school community, working collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and parents to support student success. This position requires a strong understanding of social-emotional learning principles and the ability to develop and implement individualized plans to support student growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individual, group, and family counseling services to students and families in crisis
  • Assist at-risk students or students with disabilities
  • Communicate with parents, teachers, and administrators to understand students' challenges
  • Maintain case files and reports to track students' progress and problems
  • Help students and families access community resources and services
  • Consult with school administrators, teachers, and support staff to develop and implement social-emotional learning programs
  • Plan and facilitate in-service training sessions for teachers and support staff
  • Participate as an active member of the School-Based Team and District support teams
Qualifications and Attributes:
  • A master's or bachelor's degree in social work, youth care, psychology, or a related field
  • Valid license to practice social work in BC (preferred)
  • Experience working in a setting where social-emotional services were provided
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and parents
  • Flexibility and willingness to work at all three tiers of a responsive system
