About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Coordinator, Compliance and Training to join our team at First Transit Canada. As a key member of our safety team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of our employees and the public.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Safety Programs: Collaborate with division managers to develop and implement safety programs that meet regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Conduct Accident Investigations: Conduct thorough investigations of accidents and incidents to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage Safety Data and Statistics: Collect and analyze safety data and statistics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Provide Training and Development: Develop and deliver training programs to ensure that employees have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their jobs safely.
  • Monitor and Enforce Compliance: Monitor and enforce compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Collaborate with Division Managers: Collaborate with division managers to identify safety risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Develop and Maintain Safety Policies and Procedures: Develop and maintain safety policies and procedures to ensure that they are up-to-date and compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct Audits and Inspections: Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure that safety policies and procedures are being followed.
  • Communicate with Stakeholders: Communicate with stakeholders, including employees, management, and regulatory agencies, to ensure that safety information is shared and understood.
Requirements
  • Permit Class 2 and Training Experience: Possess a valid permit class 2 and experience in training and development.
  • Safety-Focused Individual: Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and a willingness to take a proactive approach to ensuring a safe work environment.
  • Previous Experience as a School Bus Driver: Previous experience as a school bus driver is an asset, but not required.
  • Knowledge of Recruitment and Selection Process: Knowledge of the recruitment and selection process for drivers at Transco/First Student Canada is an asset.
  • Ability to Manage Multiple Priorities: Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, including tight deadlines and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Leadership and Decision-Making Skills: Demonstrate leadership and decision-making skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to Learn New Software: Ability to learn new software and technology.
  • Bilingualism: Bilingualism is an asset.
Work Environment

This is a full-time position that requires working in a combination of office and field environments.
