Position Overview
This pivotal role within the Office of the President is newly established to enhance SFU's government relations framework. The Senior Director of Government Relations will be a collaborative leader responsible for developing a cohesive strategy that promotes SFU's reputation and influence. Acting as a principal advisor to the President and the Executive Team, this position will focus on strengthening SFU's connections with various government entities and providing strategic insights on policy matters affecting the institution.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary liaison between SFU and all levels of government, including Indigenous, Federal, Provincial, and Municipal authorities.
- Collaborate with campus leaders and the broader SFU community to identify and leverage partnership opportunities.
- Cultivate and maintain significant relationships on behalf of SFU, working closely with Executive Portfolios to ensure strategic engagement.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be a seasoned professional with extensive experience in government relations and public affairs within a complex organizational landscape. This individual will possess strong leadership capabilities, adept at managing diverse teams and navigating multifaceted projects. Exceptional communication skills, combined with the ability to engage effectively with government stakeholders, are essential for success in this role. The candidate should demonstrate sound judgment, foresight, and a commitment to the highest ethical standards.
Compensation
The anticipated salary range for this position is $155,000 – $170,000 annually, complemented by a competitive total rewards package.
