Position Overview

The Barrel is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Person to ensure the upkeep and functionality of our establishment. This role is crucial in maintaining a clean and safe environment for both staff and patrons.

Qualifications
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years in a similar role
Work Environment

The position is based in an urban setting, specifically within a restaurant atmosphere, where the ability to handle various maintenance tasks is essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing floors and hallways.
  • Utilize industrial vacuum cleaners to effectively remove dirt and debris.
  • Maintain cleanliness of windows, interior walls, and ceilings.
  • Conduct minor repairs and adjustments to heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, and electrical systems, while coordinating with tradespersons for major repairs.
  • Engage contractors for necessary repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Handle minor appliance repairs as needed.
  • Assist in moving heavy furniture and equipment.
  • Execute additional maintenance tasks such as painting and drywall repair.
  • Ensure bathrooms and fixtures are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.
Physical Requirements

This role involves:

  • Repetitive tasks
  • Handling heavy loads (up to 23 kg or 50 lbs)
  • Physically demanding activities including bending, crouching, and kneeling
Additional Information
  • Work Conditions: Permanent position with working hours ranging from 30 to 44 hours per week.
