Position Overview
As a Payroll Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to manage the processing of manual timesheets within the payroll system. It is crucial to maintain compliance with all relevant regulations and labor standards applicable to the jurisdictions you oversee, alongside adhering to company policies. A comprehensive understanding of Workday processes and controls is vital to effectively support the payroll operations. Furthermore, you will be tasked with providing exceptional internal customer service as necessary.

Your Responsibilities
  • Process manual timesheets within the payroll system, ensuring accuracy and compliance with provincial regulations.
  • Handle weekly and biweekly payroll inputs.
  • Adhere to all established deadlines.
  • Conduct reconciliations of assigned payroll general ledger accounts.
  • Perform employment verifications.
  • Deliver internal and external customer service as required.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Generate reports as needed.
  • Maintain compliance knowledge related to assigned tasks.
  • Investigate and resolve issues by liaising with HR, Workday System Administrators, IT, and regulatory bodies when necessary.
  • Participate in testing for Workday upgrades.
  • Engage in projects and initiatives as assigned.
  • Execute additional tasks as required to support the department and the organization.
Your Skills
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Strong prioritization and time management skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Your Experience
  • Post-secondary education in Payroll, Human Resources Management, Business, or a related field.
  • Payroll certification (NPI) is an asset.
  • 1-3 years of experience in payroll or equivalent accounting experience with some payroll processing exposure. Financial acumen is essential.
  • Familiarity with Workday is advantageous.
