Job Summary

The University of British Columbia is seeking a highly skilled Strategic Product Manager to lead the M365 initiative and related services. This is a pivotal role that requires a strong understanding of cloud platforms, digital transformation, and strategic leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Vision: Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for the M365 initiative, aligning with the university's overall goals and objectives.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with academic and administrative units to understand their needs and develop solutions that meet their requirements.
  • Cloud Platform Management: Oversee the planning, implementation, and ongoing management of the M365 cloud platform, ensuring optimal utilization and cost-effectiveness.
  • Project and Team Leadership: Lead project teams and supervise staff, providing guidance and support to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Vendor Management: Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, ensuring alignment with the university's strategic vision and goals.
  • Financial Management: Manage project and operational budgets, ensuring effective resource allocation and financial stewardship.
  • Communication and Stakeholder Management: Develop and maintain effective communication channels with stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment with the university's goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • Post-graduate degree in a relevant field, such as computer science, business administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a related field, including at least 4 years of managerial experience and 3 years of specialized experience in cloud platform management.
  • Strong leadership and strategic skills, with the ability to develop and execute comprehensive strategies.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to develop and maintain effective communication channels.
  • Strong financial management skills, with the ability to manage project and operational budgets.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, including M365, Azure, and related technologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex problems and develop effective solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with cloud migration, including workload migration from on-premises to the cloud.
  • Experience with Azure environment and architecture.
  • Experience with M365 technical areas, including Exchange, OneDrive, Teams, Voice, Collaboration, Active Directory/Azure Active Directory, Intune MDM/MAM, Autopilot, SharePoint, and Azure Virtual Desktop.
  • Experience with procurement, including preparing RFPs and managing RFIs/RFPs for the evaluation, selection, and procurement of products and services from vendors.
  • Experience with change management, budget development, financial management, and risk management.
