Job Description

Job Title: Intermediate Underground Estimator

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Intermediate Underground Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing contract documents, preparing self-perform cost estimates, and assembling accurate and timely estimates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze contract documents to prepare self-perform cost estimates of projects for underground utility installation (water & sewer).
  • Assemble accurate, timely, and well-organized estimates, including hard-bid, construction management, and design-build.
  • Prepare quantity take-offs.
  • Organize sub-contractor quotes when the bid is successful, re-writing binders and assisting the buy-out process.
  • Set-up new cost estimates in bidding software.
  • Develop schedules for accuracy and determine production rates.
  • Contact subcontractors and vendors for specific divisions to get external pricing.
  • Monitor the success of a project, noting potential challenges and building relationships with sub-trades for future opportunities.
  • Identify potential project risks.
  • Attend pre-tender meetings & site visits, where applicable.
  • Work with proposal & operations teams in writing execution methodology, safety plans, Indigenous Engagement Strategies, and quality documentation.
  • Present estimates to management for review.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of estimating experience.
  • 1+ years of water & sewer construction experience is an asset.
  • Project management and field experience is an asset.
  • Familiarity with B2W suite and asset.
  • Self-motivated, energetic, and reliable with a positive disposition.
  • Good communicator with attention to detail and good documentation skills.
