About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Art Director to join our team at Epic Games. As a key member of our art leadership team, you will be responsible for leading and collaborating with multidisciplinary artists to help create and maintain Epic's vision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and communicate a high-quality visual style that aligns with Epic's brand and artistic direction.
  • Lead and mentor a worldwide team of artists, providing effective feedback and guidance to ensure the delivery of high-quality artwork.
  • Interpret the needs of development disciplines such as design and engineering into amazing final artwork.
  • Collaborate with the Product and IP teams on themes and cosmetic sets.
  • Deliver effective feedback across all art disciplines, including modeling, animation, and more.
  • Create and iterate unique and stunning designs within a determined production schedule.
Requirements
  • Experience as an art director in a game studio.
  • A deep understanding of the game development process and art disciplines.
  • Strong understanding of art fundamentals, multiple art styles, anatomy, and appeal.
  • Experience designing characters of a wide variety and broad appeal.
  • Strong understanding of color theory and how color affects mood and focal points, with a focus on modern fashion-forward aesthetics.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills, with experience in effective feedback for outsourcing and contractors.
  • Strong leadership skills to lead a large number of people toward a singular vision.
  • Experience directing and supporting artists across multiple disciplines.
  • The ability to adapt to and innovate new styles and techniques.
  • Strong collaborative nature to partner with senior art directors and discipline leads.
