About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Underwriter to join our team at National Bank. As a Senior Underwriter, you will play a critical role in evaluating and interpreting diverse information to assess the insurability of clients applying for loan insurance and individual insurance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess Complex Cases: Evaluate and interpret diverse information to assess the insurability of clients applying for loan insurance and individual insurance, in accordance with established standards and processes.
  • Manage Complex Files: Manage complex files, including post-issue underwriting, to ensure timely and accurate processing.
  • Communicate Effectively: Write personalized correspondence and communicate with clients, as needed, to provide clear and concise information.
  • Meet Productivity and Quality Goals: Meet productivity and quality goals, while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Support Colleagues: Support less experienced colleagues through coaching and knowledge transfer to ensure a smooth onboarding process.
  • Assist Senior Advisor: Assist the senior advisor as needed, including cosignings and opinion requests, training, quality control, and contact person for other departments.
  • Contribute to Continuous Improvement: Contribute to continuous improvement projects to enhance processes and procedures.
About the Team

You will be part of a team of 7 colleagues, reporting to the Underwriter's Manager. Our team is known for its underwriting expertise, medical and insurance knowledge, collaboration with other teams, and dedication to workplace well-being.

Requirements
  • College Diploma: A college diploma is required.
  • Underwriting Experience: A minimum of 5 years in underwriting, with ALU exams 1 and 2, or 7 years in underwriting.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Analytical, judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Coaching and Leadership Skills: Coaching skills and positive leadership, a collaborative spirit, and agility.
