Instrumentation and Controls Engineer

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to contribute to the design and assessment of system enhancements at a nuclear facility. This role involves engaging in various engineering phases, from initial conceptual design through to detailed design support. The engineer will be responsible for selecting and designing project systems, as well as providing estimates for future engineering phases. Additionally, procurement engineering support will be a key component of this position.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assisting in the development of design methodologies and plans;
  2. Conducting design reviews and verifying technical documents created by peers;
  3. Offering technical expertise and applying robust engineering principles to address technical challenges;
  4. Ensuring the precision, consistency, and thoroughness of engineering outputs;
  5. Delivering all engineering tasks and documentation within established timelines and budget constraints;
  6. Creating and designing both preliminary and detailed engineering packages for Instrumentation and Controls;
  7. Overseeing the preparation of engineering deliverables related to Instrumentation and Control, including instrument lists, installation specifications, location schematics, functional block diagrams, control and monitoring descriptions, datasheets, calibration documents, P&IDs, material requisitions, technical evaluations, equipment selection assessments, calculations (for control valves, flow elements, pressure safety valves), and bills of materials.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Instrumentation & Controls: Experience in process implementation
  • Project Background: Experience in nuclear, oil and gas, power generation, or other EPC sectors
  • Design Expertise: Proficiency in data sheets, control narratives, logic diagrams, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, and instrument indexes

Work Environment:

Location: Hybrid work model with a combination of remote and on-site responsibilities.

Working Hours: Full-time position with core hours requiring availability. Flexible working arrangements are encouraged outside of core hours.
