Job Description

The Community Assisted Treatment Coordinator has the responsibility for providing leadership regarding how Mental Health and Addictions clinicians support clients who require Community Assisted Treatment Orders (CATOs) and Community Support Plans (CSPs) under the Nunavut Mental Health Act. The Coordinator will work with all relevant stakeholders, such as case managers to appropriate development and delivery of transitional care plans for clients who require CATOs and CSPs in the Territory.

The Coordinator ensures that community and hospital-based mental health and addictions staff are supported in the integration of CATPs and CSPs within the continuum of mental health and addiction services. The Coordinator will also support clients and their care managers in navigating processes of the Mental Health Act legislation and transitions from inpatient psychiatric services to community-based services affiliated with the Mental Health Act legislation.

The Coordinator works within the Territorial Mental Health and Addictions Team, other divisions within the Department of Health, and other Government of Nunavut (GN) departments in order to ensure coordination, promote best practices, and take advantage of opportunities for collaboration. The Coordinator will also serve as a critical link between case managers and psychiatric services to ensure coordinated and effective care for clients engaged in the CATO and CSP program.

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a recognized undergraduate degree in social work, nursing, or a related field. Three (3) years of current work experience in mental health including case management and experience working within small community settings and with the service delivery across tiers of mental health intervention (promotion, prevention, intervention, crisis, and system navigation) is also required. A Master's degree in a related field would be an asset.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in Inuktitut would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
