Job Summary
The Banquet Captain is a key member of the National Arts Centre's Food and Beverage team, responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of banquets and events. This role requires strong leadership and organizational skills, as well as excellent communication and customer service abilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of banquet staff to ensure seamless event execution
- Work closely with the Assistant General Manager, Food and Beverage, to plan and execute banquets and events
- Ensure that all events are executed to the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders
- Manage inventory and track expenses to ensure accurate billing and reporting
- Provide exceptional customer service and resolve any issues that may arise during events
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Smart Serve certification
- Bilingualism in English and French
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role, supervising staff in an unionized environment
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays
- Physical stamina to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing and training employees
- Superior customer service skills
- Extensive knowledge of food and beverage service
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
