About the Role

Fairmont Château Laurier is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Banquets to join our team. As a key member of our Food and Beverage department, you will be responsible for ensuring the success of every group function and providing exceptional service and leadership to our guests and colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, direction, and training to the Banquet team to ensure smooth and efficient functioning of the department
  • Develop and implement creative and cost-effective scheduling strategies to minimize productivity and budget
  • Maintain open communication lines with Catering and Convention Services to promote teamwork and exceed guest service expectations
  • Ensure all financial reporting is accurate and up-to-date
  • Recruit, train, and maintain a high-performing team to meet the needs of our guests
  • Develop and implement processes to create new and innovative services ideas and incentives
  • Ensure departmental adherence to Health & Safety standards
  • Share responsibility for achieving or exceeding financial and guest satisfaction goals

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in Hospitality or Food and Beverage Management
  • Minimum five years' experience in Food and Beverage Management, including a minimum of three years in a Banquet Manager or Assistant Banquet Manager setting
  • Highly organized individual with the ability to multi-task and delegate tasks to team members
  • Strong leadership qualities and management skills, with the ability to recognize and correct guest service issues
  • Working knowledge of Micros, Timesaver, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Word
