The Role

The Institute of Urban Ecology at Douglas College is dedicated to environmental outreach and education. As a Student Assistant, you will work under the supervision of the IUE Coordinator to assist with organizing on-campus events, promoting workshops, and preparing workshop materials. Responsibilities
- Assist the IUE Coordinator with workshop and event preparation, including designing posters and fliers, creating social media posts and enewsletters, and preparing workshop materials.
- Participate in and assist during workshops and events.

Maintaining the SOL Garden
- Assist the IUE Coordinator in maintaining and developing the SOL garden, located at the Coquitlam campus.

Requirements
- Ability to work at both the New Westminster and Coquitlam campuses.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in growing and maintaining plants in an outdoor garden.
- Ability and willingness to do physical outdoor work (gardening).

Eligibility Criteria
- Domestic students must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in and maintain a minimum of one or more (3 credit) courses at Douglas College throughout the work term, or have been enrolled in and maintained a minimum of one or more (3 credit) courses at Douglas College in the term immediately preceding the work term and has indicated an intention to enroll at the college in the term immediately following the work term.
- International students must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in full-time studies at Douglas College, or be an international student at another accredited public post-secondary institution in B.C. with a valid Study Permit that has the notation – "May accept employment on or off campus if meeting eligibility criteria as per R186 (F), (V) or (W).

Important
- An original copy of a Social Insurance Number (SIN) and an original Study Permit are required by law before commencing work at Douglas College.
