About the Role

Motive, a studio within Electronic Arts, is seeking an Intermediate Level Designer to join our team. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for creating engaging and immersive game levels that contribute to our creative vision.

Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Design game levels that are playable, enjoyable, and immersive, taking into account technical and artistic constraints.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with technical and game design team members to ensure high-quality levels and effective implementation.
  • Level Art Integration: Collaborate with level artists to ensure playability and graphic fidelity of levels.
  • Playtesting and Feedback: Contribute to playtests and design discussions to ensure levels meet our creative vision.
  • Game Editor Improvement: Assist in improving the game editor to enhance the level design process.
  • Issue Resolution: Test and troubleshoot areas not working in the game engine and resolve issues.
  • Usability Studies: Collaborate with the Usability Lab to produce usability studies and tests.
Requirements
  • Experience: 3+ years' experience in video game level design with experience on at least one AAA title.
  • Technical Skills: Experience using visual scripting and level design tools.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate design decisions and create design documents.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work with partners to implement a vision.
  • Prototyping: Proficiency in prototyping ideas and sharing them with stakeholders.
  • Design Discussions: Comfort and capability in creative and technical design discussions.
  • Environmental Aesthetics: Interest in environmental aesthetics.
  • Function vs. Form: Understanding of function vs. form relationships and what makes a game level fun and intriguing.
  • Teamwork: Must work well in a team spanning artists, programmers, and designers.
  • Task Management: Ability to break down tasks and work with production to produce estimates and set priorities.
