Opportunity Overview: Peer Assistance Coordinator at PHSA
We are looking for a dedicated Peer Assistance Coordinator to become a vital part of our Community Transition Team. In this role, you will provide essential non-clinical, peer-driven support to individuals as they navigate their return to community life. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Delivering personalized peer support and mentorship to clients, emphasizing skill development and successful community integration
- Conducting both group and individual sessions, sharing important health and social resources
- Building respectful and trusting relationships with clients and their support systems, aiding them in accessing necessary services
- Championing client advocacy, engaging in service enhancement initiatives, and maintaining thorough documentation
- Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the best possible support for clients
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of a recognized Social Services Worker certification program or equivalent experience
- Personal background with incarceration, substance use, and mental health issues
Essential Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities
- Proficient in teamwork and efficient work organization
- Dedication to fostering a culturally safe environment and respecting Indigenous rights
