Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate Peer Support Specialist to join our dedicated team. As a Peer Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing non-clinical, peer-based support to clients transitioning back into the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Offer one-on-one peer support and guidance to clients, focusing on skills development and successful reintegration into the community.
- Facilitate group and individual sessions, providing valuable health and social information to empower clients.
- Build respectful relationships with clients and their support networks, assisting them in accessing essential services and resources.
- Advocate for clients' needs, actively participate in service development initiatives, and maintain accurate records.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive and optimal support for clients.
Qualifications
- Graduation from a recognized Social Services Worker certificate program or equivalent experience.
- Personal lived experience with incarceration, substance use, and mental health challenges.
Skills & Knowledge
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work collaboratively and organize tasks efficiently.
- Commitment to creating a culturally safe environment and upholding Indigenous rights.
