About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Laboratory Manager to join our team at WSP Canada. As a key member of our Process and Mine Infrastructure Team, you will be responsible for leading our laboratory operations and ensuring the delivery of high-quality test results to support our clients' projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the laboratory team in the execution of tailings materials testing, including rheology, dewatering, and unconfined compressive strength testing.
  • Develop and implement laboratory quality control programs to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
  • Collaborate with project managers to define the scope and objectives of test programs and ensure their successful execution.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to junior staff members, including training and development opportunities.
  • Contribute to the development of test programs and reports to meet client objectives.
  • Track laboratory costs, labor, and materials to ensure efficient operations.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary technical education in Civil/Chemical/Metallurgical Engineering/Technology or related discipline.
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in tailings materials testing, including rheology, dewatering, and unconfined compressive strength.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant standardized laboratory testing procedures (ASTM, AASHTO, CSA).
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to discuss conflicting priorities and help resolve conflicts.
  • Accurate and efficient computer skills in Microsoft Office, with data entry, data interpretation, and report generating skills.
