About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Advisor to join our Financial Markets team at National Bank. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in providing expert legal advice and support to our business units, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drafting and Negotiating Financial Contracts: Develop and negotiate complex financial contracts, including ISDA Master Agreements, GMRA, and GMSLA, to ensure alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Providing Legal Opinions and Advice: Offer expert legal opinions and advice on various aspects of financial law, including derivatives, securities, and capital markets.
  • Supporting Business Growth: Collaborate with business units to identify and mitigate legal risks, ensuring the development and protection of the Bank's interests and rights.
  • Leading Special Projects: Showcase your expertise in leading special projects that have a significant impact on the Bank's activities and subsidiaries.
  • Staying Up-to-Date with Regulatory Requirements: Stay current with changing regulatory requirements and advise stakeholders on compliance matters.
About the Team

Our Capital Markets and Treasury Risk Management sector is a dynamic team of 6 lawyers and a paralegal, dedicated to providing sound legal support to the Bank's national and international desks. We work closely with clients and stakeholders to negotiate and manage transactional financial contracts.

Requirements
  • Member of the Bar of Quebec
  • Experience in Negotiating Financial Contracts: Proven experience in negotiating ISDA Master Agreements, GMRA, and GMSLA.
  • Knowledge of Financial Transactions Law: Strong understanding of financial transactions law and derivatives law.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders.
Language

English and French are the primary languages used in this role. You will need to work closely with colleagues outside Quebec, so proficiency in both languages is essential.
