About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Advisor to join our dynamic team at Intact Financial Corporation.

As a key member of our legal department, you will provide expert legal advice and guidance on a wide range of insurance regulatory matters, including the development and distribution of insurance products, market conduct requirements, federal and provincial licensing, and marketing law.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a trusted advisor to our business units, providing high-quality legal advice and guidance on complex insurance regulatory matters.
  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement innovative business solutions that meet regulatory requirements.
  • Provide training and support to colleagues on insurance regulatory matters and best practices.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in regulatory requirements and industry trends, and provide recommendations for updates to our policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Member of the Barreau du Québec in good standing.
  • 3 to 7 years of experience in commercial, corporate, and/or insurance law, preferably in a regulated industry.
  • Superior technical legal skills, with a strong understanding of insurance regulatory law.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision.
  • Comfort with technology tools, including good working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to assess the practical implications of legal risks and think strategically.
  • Ability to build relationships with business units and stakeholders and influence decision making at the operational and corporate level.
