About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Underwriter to join our Middle Market team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for establishing new broker and client relationships, underwriting our Middle Market products, and supporting the growth of this exciting new business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and market our new products across General Liability, Property, Auto, Umbrella, and Environmental lines.
  • Underwrite both new and renewal business, assisting in achieving profitable premium and rate goals.
  • Develop, maintain, and service broker relationships within our distribution model.
  • Interact directly with insureds, brokers, and producers, and service accounts and brokers.
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment, assisting underwriters, underwriting assistants, and management team.
  • Ensure high-quality service standards and compliance with all internal audit guidelines.
  • Represent the company and our agents at internal and external functions, agent-sponsored events, and industry events.
  • Meet with brokers to set annual targets, issue monthly status reports, and monitor P&L against plan.
Requirements
  • Outstanding knowledge of the Canadian insurance industry and in-depth technical knowledge of insurance product offerings.
  • Extensive Middle Market insurance experience, including underwriting, claims, or insurance-related business development experience.
  • Ability to build and maintain robust insured and broker contacts.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a strong customer service focus.
  • Collaborative team player with creative problem-solving skills.
