Position Overview

CB Canada is seeking a skilled Forecast Analyst to enhance our Renewable Energy Analytics division. The primary focus of this role is to establish and uphold forecasting services, evaluate their precision, improve forecast outcomes, explore innovative modeling techniques, and assist clients in a dynamic and fast-evolving sector.

This role offers the flexibility to work from any of our offices across Canada, with options for remote or hybrid work arrangements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing precise and dependable forecasting services for energy traders, grid regulators, and facility operators.
  • Generating detailed reports on forecast performance.
  • Engaging with clients to ensure that services align with their needs.
  • Investigating and developing new modeling techniques.
  • Facilitating workshops and meetings to discuss forecasting for wind and solar energy, while promoting our forecasting capabilities.
  • Supporting the commercial and marketing dimensions of the business.
  • Being available for on-call support to address operational challenges.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Meteorology, Physics, Computer Science, or Engineering.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a relevant field, whether in industry or academia.
  • Proficiency in Python is mandatory.
  • Experience in wind and/or solar energy is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with global weather patterns is preferred.
  • Knowledge of C#, MATLAB, and/or SQL is beneficial.
  • Experience in developing and implementing machine learning models is a plus.
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation for operational support during weekends and public holidays.
  • Experience with statistical modeling techniques is preferred.
  • Strong time management skills to handle multiple projects effectively.
  • Able to thrive in a high-pressure consultancy environment with tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Successful candidates will undergo background and drug screening.
