Lead Structural Engineer

Wood is actively seeking a Senior Lead Structural Engineer to enhance our Minerals and Metals division. The ideal candidate will have the chance to collaborate with a proficient engineering team to strategize, schedule, and implement challenging and technically intricate engineering projects.

Compensation: CDN $130,000 annually.

Key Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Structural Engineering from a recognized institution with P. Eng. designation in BC; designation in other regions is advantageous.
  • At least 18 years of pertinent structural engineering experience across various stages of capital and heavy industry projects, from initial studies to detailed design.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience within the mineral processing and mining sector.
  • Proficiency in dynamic analysis and design.
  • Practical site experience.
  • Experience in developing proposals for different phases of capital projects.
  • Extensive background in creating capital cost estimates for various project phases.
  • A proactive individual with experience in leading multiple designers and engineers on schedule and cost-focused capital projects.
  • Familiarity with North American engineering and design codes and standards; knowledge of South American and European standards is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience in steel and concrete design within the mining and mineral processing industries.
  • Understanding of steel fabrication is an asset.
  • Ability to work efficiently while demonstrating strong organizational skills.
  • Proven client management experience.
  • Authorization to work lawfully in Canada without sponsorship from Wood.
  • Proficient in STAAD Pro structural analysis, RISA 3D, SAP 2000, and S-Concrete.
  • Experience with Mathcad or Excel, Navis Works, AutoCAD, and MS Office.
  • Authorization to work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is mandatory.
