Job Summary

We are seeking an exceptional Laboratory Manager to provide support for undergraduate labs at Richard Bland College. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and organizing several undergraduate biology and chemistry teaching labs and storage rooms, assisting faculty with laboratory experiments, and ensuring lab safety and chemical hygiene.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and organize undergraduate biology and chemistry teaching labs and storage rooms
  • Assist faculty with setup and cleanup of student laboratory experiments
  • Ensure hazardous substances are stored and maintained properly, and lab safety equipment is properly maintained and in working order
  • Perform duties of lab safety and chemical hygiene officer for the department as assigned
  • Order supplies and equipment for the department in accordance with college purchasing procedures
  • Teach introductory Biology laboratory sections for the department on an as-needed basis

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or a closely related field
  • Experience with maintenance, setup, and organization of undergraduate teaching labs
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills
  • Enthusiastic commitment to the Richard Bland College mission, vision, and strategic plan

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Science degree (or higher) in a biology-related discipline from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Considerable experience teaching and supervising undergraduate biology lab courses
  • Knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of effective communication and instruction
