Aquatics Program Leader

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Aquatics Program Leader to join our team at the City of Red Deer. As a key member of our aquatic team, you will be responsible for the implementation of aquatic programs and services in a safe and efficient facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the delivery of aquatic programs and services, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction and safety.
  • Supervise and train aquatic staff, including lifeguards and swim instructors.
  • Develop and implement aquatic programs and services, including swim lessons, water aerobics, and other recreational activities.
  • Manage aquatic facilities and equipment, ensuring they are maintained in good working order.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a seamless delivery of services.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent – Minimum 18 years of age.
  • Possession of the following current certifications – ability to renew qualifications as required:
  • National Lifeguard Certificate – Pool Option.
  • National Lifeguard Certificate – Waterpark Option.
  • Intermediate First Aid/CPR Basic Rescuer (level C CPR) & AED.
  • Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor.
  • Lifesaving Instructor/Examiner with CPR & AED Instructor/Examiner.
  • National Lifeguard Instructor/Examiner.
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience lifeguarding.
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience instructing aquatic leadership programs.
  • Proven leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated high level of verbal, written, and listening skills.

Affiliation:

Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 417.

Remuneration:

$31.33 to $33.17 per hour.

Hours of Work:

80 hours biweekly, as scheduled. Shifts may include a mix of evenings, weekdays, weekends and early mornings as Aquatic Programming and staff supervision/training are required.

Additional Information:

The term of this position is anticipated to be approximately 11 months.
