Role Summary:

The Robotics and Space Operations (RSO) division of MDA Space is seeking a Director of Subcontract Program Management. This pivotal role involves leading the execution of subcontract activities across various programs and strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with MDA's operational and strategic objectives.

The Director will be an integral part of the operations leadership team, reporting directly to the Vice President of Operations. This position requires strategic oversight of the subcontract program management function, prioritizing planning efforts, and collaborating with senior management to ensure effective subcontract execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and maintain a robust subcontract program management framework, ensuring alignment with cross-company PMO practices.
  2. Lead cross-functional Integrated Subcontracts Program Management Teams, collaborating with departments such as PMO, Contracts, and Procurement to achieve performance objectives.
  3. Ensure the quality and value of each subcontract by participating in the intake process and collaborating with program managers.
  4. Establish a subcontract program management organization that meets customer requirements while balancing internal resource needs.
  5. Set cost and schedule baselines for subcontract programs, conducting regular assessments and developing plans to meet objectives.
  6. Oversee the delivery of subcontract program management outcomes through performance metrics and adherence to contract scope.
  7. Implement risk and opportunity management practices to identify and mitigate potential issues.
  8. Foster a high-performance culture within the subcontract program management team through leadership and development initiatives.
  9. Manage recruitment, development, and succession planning for a diverse team of subcontract program professionals.
  10. Promote innovation and continuous improvement within the department and across the organization.

Qualifications:

  1. A bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field.
  2. 10+ years of experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role within subcontract program management.
  3. Proven track record in managing complex subcontract programs with multi-functional teams.
  4. Experience with large-scale subcontracts and significant engineering activities.
  5. Strong financial and budgeting skills, with experience in cost-based revenue recognition.
  6. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  7. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a high-performing team.
