Position Overview

The Respiratory Therapist plays a crucial role in the healthcare team, responsible for the initiation and management of both invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation. This professional is recognized as an expert in advanced airway management across various clinical settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and manage oxygen and other compressed gases, aerosolized medications, and high humidity therapies.
  • Conduct and interpret pulmonary diagnostic tests to assess patient respiratory function.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to evaluate and enhance patients' cardiorespiratory status.
  • Participate in patient education and staff training sessions related to respiratory care.

Work Environment

This position may involve duties in specialized areas such as the Pulmonary Function Testing Lab, Asthma Clinic, COPD Clinic, and Sleep Lab, as well as other healthcare facilities.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Respiratory Therapy.
  • Current registration with the appropriate regulatory body.
  • Certification in CPR at NRP and ACLS levels is required.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
  • Strong organizational and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Flexibility to adapt to the evolving needs of the healthcare service.
  • Willingness to travel to various sites as necessary.
  • Proficiency in additional languages is an asset, with a preference for French.

Work Schedule

This is a permanent full-time position, requiring 75 hours of work bi-weekly.

Compensation

The hourly wage for this role is competitive, and successful candidates may have access to a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance, along with a defined benefit pension plan.
