Opportunity Overview
The Respiratory Therapist plays a crucial role in the healthcare team, responsible for the initiation and management of both invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation. This position requires expertise in advanced airway management across various settings within the healthcare institution.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and manage oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, and high humidity treatments.
- Conduct and interpret pulmonary diagnostic tests to assess patients' respiratory conditions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement effective respiratory care plans.
- Participate in various specialized clinics, including Pulmonary Function Testing Lab, Asthma Clinic, and Sleep Lab.
- Engage in patient and staff education sessions to promote understanding of respiratory health.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A degree from an accredited School of Respiratory Therapy.
- Current registration with the appropriate regulatory body.
- Certification in CPR at NRP and ACLS levels.
- Strong ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Excellent organizational and supervisory skills.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.
- Flexibility to adapt to the evolving needs of the service.
- Willingness to travel to various healthcare sites as required.
- Proficiency in additional languages is an asset, with a preference for French.
Work Schedule
This is a permanent full-time position, requiring 75 hours of work bi-weekly.
Compensation and Benefits
The hourly wage for this role is $40.66. Successful candidates may also be eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance, along with a defined benefit pension plan.
