Position Overview
In alignment with the Vision, Purpose, and Values of Island Health - Vancouver Island Health Authority, ensuring patient safety is a fundamental commitment shared by all personnel. Continuous enhancement of quality and safety is an integral part of this role.
As an integral member of a diverse health care team, the Community Support Specialist delivers personal care assistance and support to clients and their families/caregivers, aiming to foster and enhance independence within the home environment. This includes aiding with daily living activities and performing delegated tasks as instructed, adhering to established care plans.
Travel may be necessary for this role. Transportation arrangements must align with the operational needs of Island Health - Vancouver Island Health Authority and may involve the use of a personal vehicle; a valid BC Driver's License is mandatory.
Qualifications: Education, Training, and ExperienceCompletion of a Home Support/Resident Care Attendant/Health Care Assistant Certificate from an accredited post-secondary institution; or a suitable combination of education, training, and experience. A Food Safe Certificate and a valid BC driver's license are also required.
Current registration and good standing with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry is essential.
Skills and Abilities- Capability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proven ability to interact positively with others.
- Physically capable of fulfilling the responsibilities of the position.
- Demonstrated organizational skills.
- Ability to operate relevant equipment.
