Community Integration Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Community Integration Specialist to join our team at the Government of British Columbia. As a key member of our Community Integration Services Branch, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals to navigate government systems and access necessary services.
About the RoleThis is a full-time position with on-site requirements. You will work closely with frontline support workers, outreach staff, and emergency shelter coordinators to provide essential support to individuals experiencing homelessness, mental illness, trauma, and addiction. Your responsibilities will include intensive case management, expedited intakes, and coordinated housing inspections.
Key Responsibilities- Provide intensive case management to support individuals in navigating government systems and accessing necessary services.
- Conduct expedited intakes and coordinated housing inspections to ensure individuals receive the support they need.
- Work collaboratively with frontline support workers, outreach staff, and emergency shelter coordinators to provide comprehensive support services.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community partners, including Employment and Assistance Workers, community organizations, and non-profit staff.
- Practice reasonable precautions in the performance of duties and adhere to all safety rules and practices to ensure personal safety as well as safety to colleagues, individuals, and others.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Secondary school graduation and three (3) years' related experience.
- At least two (2) years' experience working with Indigenous people who are living in poverty and may be experiencing homelessness, or working with people with disabilities, or experience working in community organizations, BC Friendship Centres, and/or with multiple service providers.
- Direct or indirect lived experience of addiction, poverty, homelessness, or mental health challenges.
- Comfortable working in encampments, on the street, and in areas where individuals who are experiencing homelessness gather.
