Job Overview
The City of Ottawa is committed to fostering a vibrant and inclusive community through its Recreation, Cultural and Facility Services department. This role involves the design, delivery, and assessment of innovative instructional programs across various artistic disciplines, including theatre, dance, music, visual arts, literature, and multimedia for participants of all ages.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging arts programs that cater to diverse age groups.
- Evaluate and enhance the effectiveness of instructional methods and materials.
- Collaborate with local arts organizations and educational institutions to align programs with community needs.
- Ensure a safe and supportive learning environment in accordance with health and safety regulations.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess a university or college degree in Fine Arts, Art History, or a related field, alongside substantial experience in teaching or practicing in one or more arts disciplines. A minimum of five years of relevant experience is required, along with a proven track record of working with various age groups in an educational setting.
Required Certifications
- Current Standard First Aid, CPR, and/or AED certifications.
- AODA Customer Service/IASR Training.
- Completion of High Five training courses.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to inspire and engage participants in creative activities.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing environments and diverse learning needs.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
