**Job Summary**



The City of Ottawa’s Recreation, Cultural and Facility Services department seeks a skilled Arts Educator to design, teach, and evaluate creative introductory to advanced arts programs in theatre, dance, music, visual, literary, and multi-media arts for all ages.



Key Responsibilities


  • Develop and deliver arts programs that foster creativity and engagement among diverse age groups
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create a comprehensive arts curriculum that aligns with local arts organizations and school board standards
  • Provide high-quality instructional services, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment
  • Maintain accurate records of program participation, evaluation, and assessment
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance arts expertise and program delivery


Requirements


  • University/college degree in Fine Arts, Art History, and/or education in one or more arts disciplines: theatre, dance, music, visual, literary, or multi-media arts
  • Minimum 5 years of practicing and/or teaching experience in related arts discipline
  • Previous experience working with all ages in an arts instructional setting
  • Current Standard First Aid, CPR, and/or AED certificates


Competencies, Skills, and Abilities


  • Excellent knowledge of interpretive techniques, aesthetic and technical concepts, and handling of program materials
  • Working knowledge of registration and visitor procedures, local arts organizations, and school board curriculum
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation and corporate/departmental policies and procedures
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, ability to convey enthusiasm and creative energies
  • Sensitive to the needs of various age groups and their learning abilities
  • Flexibility and ability to work in a changing work environment

  • Language Requirement: Various language requirements, locations may require English only, French only, or bilingual competencies
  • Police Record Check: The successful candidate will be required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check with the Police Services detachment in their jurisdiction to the City of Ottawa’s satisfaction
