Job Summary

The City of Ottawa's Recreation, Cultural and Facility Services department is seeking a skilled Arts Instructor to design, teach, and evaluate creative introductory to advanced instructional programs in theatre, dance, music, visual, literary, and multi-media arts for all ages.

Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver high-quality arts programs for diverse age groups
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and make recommendations for improvement
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement arts programming
  • Provide excellent customer service and ensure a positive experience for participants
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in arts education
Requirements
  • University/college degree in Fine Arts, Art History, or education in one or more of the following arts disciplines: theatre, dance, music, visual, literary, or multi-media arts
  • Minimum 5 years of practicing and/or teaching experience in related arts discipline
  • Previous experience working with all ages in an arts instructional setting
  • Current Standard First Aid, CPR, and/or AED certificates
  • AODA Customer Service/IASR Training
  • High Five training courses

What You Need to Know
  • Language Requirement: Various language requirements, locations may require English only, French only, or Bilingual competencies
  • Police Record Check: The successful candidate will be required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check with the Police Services detachment in their jurisdiction to the City of Ottawa's satisfaction
