Operations Manager

About the Role:
The Operations Manager is a key leadership position responsible for the overall performance of our business units. This individual will oversee multiple branches, ensuring seamless day-to-day operations and driving sales revenue through effective customer relationships and prospecting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Management: Ensure Health, Safety & Environmental policies are adhered to, and all employees follow hours of work and safe work practices.
- Team Development: Provide coaching and development of the team, ensuring good succession planning and a positive work environment.
- Operational Excellence: Supervise day-to-day operations to ensure all tasks are conducted correctly and efficiently.
- Financial Management: Work with the Territory Manager to analyze and review branch finances and operations to optimize productivity and costs.
- Customer Focus: Plan customer calls and visits to provide the appropriate level of service to existing and new customers, focusing on retaining and expanding existing business relationships and acquiring new business.
- Inventory Management: Coordinate and conduct product ordering for the branch when supply is low and manage the product inventory to ensure timely replenishment.
- Product Knowledge: Provide product knowledge and solutions to customers and employees as needed.
- Facilities Management: Oversee the maintenance of property and equipment at the branch to ensure everything is accounted for and remains in working order.
- Communication and Collaboration: Liaise with various parties, including the Territory Manager, other branches, and internal departments, to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
- Business Development: Participate in Parkland's request for quotation and request for proposal processes, analyzing the success of the process and using similar channels to set up new accounts.
- Customer Service: Address all customer issues involving pricing and deliveries, developing solutions that meet customer needs to maintain business relationships.
- Human Resources: Assign, check, coordinate, and schedule the work of employees, including leaves, vacations, and employee appraisals.
Requirements:
- Education and Experience: University degree and/or 5+ years of progressive experience in operations management, business accounting, marketing, and sales.
- Industry Knowledge: Industry knowledge relating to energy distribution is desired, with familiarity with bulk plants and retail sites an asset.
- Leadership and Supervision: Must have experience leading and supervising a team.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Mechanically inclined.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills, with excellent interpersonal skills and proven leadership ability.
- Technical Skills: Experience working with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Safety Orientation: Safety oriented.
- Travel and Availability: Must have a valid driver's license and an abstract in good standing, with the ability to travel weekly or as required for business purposes and be available for after-hours and on-call duties.
