Job Title: Junior Sous Chef- Restaurant- The Westin Nova Scotian

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Junior Sous Chef to join our culinary team at The Westin Nova Scotian. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for assisting the Executive Chef in the preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes, while maintaining a safe and efficient kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Executive Chef in menu planning, food preparation, and presentation.
  • Supervise and train kitchen staff to ensure high-quality food production and presentation.
  • Monitor and maintain kitchen inventory, ordering supplies as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef to develop and implement new menu items and culinary concepts.

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of progressive culinary experience, with a focus on upscale restaurants.
  • Valid Serve Right & Food Handling Certificate.
  • Completion of relevant college coursework or equivalent experience.
  • Physical ability to perform medium-intensity work, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Availability to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
