ABOUT THIS POSITION

Black & McDonald Limited is expanding its Accounting & Finance division in Southern Ontario. We are looking for a dedicated and collaborative professional to enhance our innovative team.

The role of the Cost Management Analyst is essential in supporting the financial operations of the Southern Ontario Region. This position will focus on the continuous evaluation and oversight of job costing and billing processes to facilitate regional business functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee project budgets, assess budget discrepancies, and generate cost-to-complete estimates.
  • Utilize JD Edwards software for job setup, cost code management, change order logging, sales recording, and job forecasting updates.
  • Track labor expenses effectively.
  • Prepare salary recovery documentation and other cost transfer paperwork.
  • Generate and analyze productivity reports.
  • Conduct detailed variance analysis and identify financial trends.
  • Identify and report potential risks and concerns.
  • Provide job cost data for monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closures.
  • Produce profit recognition reports.
  • Engage in month-end Work In Progress (WIP) evaluations.
  • Ensure project structures align with billing requirements and set up billing lines as necessary.
  • Create precise and timely draft invoices for client approval, process approved invoices, and manage overdue payments.
  • Address payment issues related to performance metrics.
  • Reconcile monthly billed/unbilled amounts against revenue activities and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Distribute invoices to clients.
  • Monitor job holdback release timelines and necessary documentation for release.
  • Provide ad-hoc financial analyses and reports as requested by management.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Post-secondary qualification in accounting or finance, or equivalent professional experience.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 2-5 years of demonstrated experience in budget preparation and management within a construction context.

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and JD Edwards.
  • Excellent time management capabilities.
  • Strong organizational skills.
